WHAT:

A March Madness basketball Free Throw Contest by residents of Tallgrass Creek retirement community in Overland Park, KS. The residents will shoot baskets non-stop to celebrate the NCAA Tournament success of their beloved Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri basketball teams.

KU Coaches Comment on Oklahoma State Tragedy

Kansas Athletics has released the following statements from Kansas Athletics Director Sheahon Zenger, women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson and men’s basketball coach Bill Self concerning the recent passing of Oklahoma State women’s basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna.

Kansas Athletics Director Sheahon Zenger: “Words cannot adequately express the sorrow we feel for the friends and families of Coaches Budke and Serna. Our hearts go out to the entire Oklahoma State family.”

Two of the most storied programs in college basketball - Kansas and Kentucky - square off in one of the most historic venues in the inaugural State Farms Champions Classic Tuesday, Nov. 15. The game will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. (Central) from Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., as part of ESPN's Tip-Off Marathon. Kansas enters the game No. 13 in both national polls, while Kentucky is No. 2.

Overland Park to Host Regional Soccer Tournament Sept. 30

The Challenger Sports Invitational (CSI) on September 30 - October 2, 2011 is the premier fall event in the Midwest. The tournament will be played at the new $36 million Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park. The event will attract teams from all over Regions II & III. More than 200 teams from all over the Midwest are expected to attend the tournament.

KU Hawk Talk Football Kick-Off Rally Set for Sept. 1

(PRESS RELEASE) Kansas football head coach Turner Gill will launch his weekly radio show on Thursday, Sept. 1 as part of the Hawk Talk Kick Off Rally. Hawk Talk with Turner Gill will move to the Salty Iguana on the corner of 6th St., and Wakarusa in 2011 and the season-long show will begin with a bang as it will be a part of a kick off pep rally for Kansas football fans.

The Hawk Talk Kick Off Rally will open at 5 p.m., in the Salty Iguana parking lot with inflatable games for kids, various KU giveaways and multiple vendors on site. Hawk Talk with Turner Gill will broadcast live from inside Salty Iguana from 6-7 p.m.
